Multi-Vendor eCommerce Marketplace
A scalable multi-vendor online marketplace supporting multiple sellers and multi-currency transactions, optimized for cross-border selling and secure digital transactions.
The Challenge
MalayaMart wanted to build a marketplace for the Southeast Asian market where sellers from multiple countries could list products, handle orders, and receive payouts in their local currencies. The core complexity was managing inter-currency transactions, per-vendor commission structures, and seller onboarding compliance across different regulatory environments — all within a storefront experience that had to feel fast and trustworthy on mid-range Android devices with variable network connectivity.
Our Solution
We built a headless WooCommerce multi-vendor platform with WC Vendors Pro at its core, extended with custom commission logic and a purpose-built seller dashboard. Currency conversion is handled in real time via an exchange rate API, with totals displayed to buyers in MYR and SGD while payouts are settled in the seller's configured currency via Stripe Connect. Seller onboarding includes identity verification steps tailored to Malaysian and Singaporean business registration requirements. A lightweight PWA storefront optimized for slower connections rounds out the buyer experience.
Our Approach
Marketplace Architecture Design
Mapped out the full seller and buyer journeys, defined commission split logic, payout schedules, and dispute resolution flows. Selected WooCommerce with WC Vendors Pro as the commerce layer due to the ecosystem maturity and extension flexibility.
Multi-Currency & Payments
Integrated Stripe Connect for seller onboarding and split payouts. Built a real-time currency conversion layer so buyers always see accurate local pricing while backend accounting tracks everything in a base currency. Tested payout flows against Malaysian and Singaporean banking APIs.
Seller Dashboard & Onboarding
Built a custom seller portal covering product management, order processing, returns handling, and earnings reports. Onboarding walks sellers through business registration, bank account linking, and product listing guidelines within a guided multi-step wizard.
Performance & Mobile Optimization
Implemented aggressive image optimization with WebP and a CDN in Singapore. Built a PWA shell for the storefront to enable offline browsing of recently viewed products, critical for conversion on constrained Android devices.
